Neuromodulators:
Dysport & Botox
Botulinum toxin, under the brand names Botox or Dysport may be injected under the skin that relax the underlying facial muscle for a period of approximately 3-4 months.
Once the muscle is relaxed it can no longer crease the overlying skin, thus reducing wrinkles.
Neuromodulators are commonly used to treat;
forehead lines
furrow lines in between the eyebrows
“crow’s feet” at the lateral eyes
“gummy smile” (undesired show of the gums when smiling)
“lip flip” which may increase pink show of the upper lip
Botox and Dysport may also be used :
in the masseter muscles - the jaw muscles involved in clenching/grinding of the teeth for the purpose of reducing the strength of teeth grinding or for aesthetic jaw slimming effect.
to treat the underarms for excessive sweating, known as hyperhidrosis.
